Today's Reading From Genesis 37
Genesis 37 with Commentaries, verse by verse
We now turn to the life of Joseph (Genesis 37-50).
(v. 1-11)
God spoke to Jospeh in dreams. Remember that Joseph was the second youngest son of Jacob born from the favorite wife. Jacob showed favoritism, and naturally Joseph got presumptous. Howver in this human situation God spoke to Joseph through dreams, and his brothers hated him. These dreams would not be fulfilled until several years later.
Joseph was hated by hos brothers so much that they sold him to the Midianites instead of killing him. Joseph nor his brothers did not see the hand of God in this evil situation, but God had something in mind.

This Posting is NOT a commentary of the passages read today but it is a devotional. Please send a comment if something spoke to you today from the passages, links or thoughts that I have shared with you.

What do you think, please, of Obadiah Shoher's interpretation of the story? (here: samsonblinded.org/blog/genesis-37.htm ) He takes the text literally to prove that the brothers played a practical joke on Yosef rather than intended to murder him or sell him into slavery. His argument seems fairly strong to me, but I'd like to hear other opinions.
